Transportation vs. Education?

Dear School Supporters,

Think transportation and education are not related? THINK AGAIN.

A group of legislators in the Virginia General Assembly have proposed a multibillion-dollar transportation plan that includes shifting about $250 million dollars from the General Fund used for education to fund transportation initiatives.

Now is the time to let your legislators know that any transportation package must NOT divert funding from the General Fund.

In addition, please advocate for the Start Strong PreK pilot programs if you have not already. It will take strong advocacy from as many people as possible to ensure passage. Diverting General Funds for transportation may also hurt further PreK expansion that will be proposed in the next biennium.

Below are the senators and delegates who are working to reconcile the Senate and House versions of the budget. Below that list is an email list to cut and paste into a distribution list (which also includes Del. Barlow, Del. Rapp, and Sen. Norment).
